Louisiana

Electric bicycle classes, age, helmets, and path access

Louisiana defines three classes under 750 watts and generally applies bicycle rights and duties. Local and agency authorities may restrict Class 1 and 2 path use and prohibit Class 3 access; natural-surface nonmotorized trails are locally managed. Operators under 12 may not operate Class 3; Class 3 operators and passengers must wear helmets and the bike must have a speedometer.
