Current e-bike definition and future class law

On October 1, 2026, North Carolina still uses a one-tier electric-assisted bicycle definition: no more than 750 watts and no more than 20 mph under motor power alone. Session Law 2026-46 will add a class framework, access, helmet, and local-authority rules effective December 1, 2026; those future provisions are not represented as current rules here.
